Weigh in Wednesday

Happy Wednesday… The last Wednesday of January!  I don’t know about you, but I feel like this month has flown by. It’s been crazy, a world of busyness and tonsillitis. I haven’t been very active atall this week, and I think the scales will reflect that. However, I am moving out this weekend, so I think running regularly will be a good way to explore the local area I’m moving to.

Last Week: 223.5 pounds
Today: 225 pounds
To Lose for Goal 1: 15.5 pounds

Told you. 1.5 pound gain – that is also down to bad food choices this week. Not the end of the world, it will come off again for next week!

Weigh in Wednesday

Morning one and all, it’s another Wednesday.

Last week: 221 pounds
Today: 223.5 pounds
To Lose for Goal 1: 13 pounds

I’m glad to report I’m feeling better this week, though not fully recovered as of yet. The monumental weight loss last week – at least partially – must have been down to being ill, and vomiting the night before weigh in. I’m not too distressed by the gain because it’s a sign I’m getting over tonsillitis. Overall it’s still a loss of 4 pounds this month.

Last week a comment VetRunner posted got me thinking. VR said “try not to put too much pressure on goals, try to enjoy the things you are trying to achieve” (ie the general process of losing weight and being healthier). Sound advice. I mulled it over, and I do tend to lose sight of the process and feeling good when concentrating on the numbers and goals. Going forward I think I should remind myself of that now and then! With that in mind, here’s my week roundup:

Food
Last weeks goal: Eat within 1500 calories 6 / 7 days
I did: 4 / 7 days
Not too shabby, and the days I didnt make it were not over by too big of a number. I feel that I need to learn more about healthy snacks and find ones that I like enough to substitute for unhealthy snacks. The volume of my eating has decreased, which is good. It’s nice to be thinking about food less inbetween meals!

Exercise
Last weeks goal: Burn 1000 calories
I did: 0 / 1000
I did, in fact, burn calories through the week and get some walking in as my exercise. However I ate back those calories so they don’t count as additional burnt off! I’ve enjoyed being out walking on my lunch break, it does me a world of good to get out of the office. This week I’m hoping to get running again if I’m feeling recovered enough, I want to feel like I am able to run again.

Sleep
Last weeks goal: Get 8 hours sleep 4 / 7 nights
I did: 3 / 7 nights
Getting more sleep makes me feel better about my whole day. Unfortunately, I suck at getting enough sleep during the week. I’m working on this and am hoping to get into a good wind down routine in the evenings which will help.

Morning…

I haven’t been very well for the past few days, so I’ve been reeeaally inactive. Not particularly fun…

To Lose for Goal 1: 11.5 pounds

Well that’s a dramatic difference in a week. I’m almost back down to my pre-christmas weight! My eating has been generally better which I think has been what’s helped this along. Added to me being ill might also have an effect…we’ll have to see once I’m recovered…

Food

Well, not too bad. Could have been better of course, but there we go!

Exercise

I Did: 362/3500 calories

I went for a run on Thursday, it was a short one but other than that I haven’t done any extra exercise because of being sick. Joy of joys…better next week…

Sleep

Last Weeks Goal: Get 8 hours sleep 4/7 nights

I Did: 6/7 nights

HOLY MOLY I actually got decent sleep this week. Granted, some if it was because I’ve been ill and it was very restless sleep, but still. It was sleep in a good quantity. What I’m wondering now is…does this have a direct correlation to the weight I lost this week? I mean, with food I wasn’t exactly perfect so…probably?

Goals for Next Week

Weight: 219 pounds

Food: Eat 1500 Calories 6/7 days

Exercise: Burn 1000 Calories

Sleep: Get 8 hours sleep 4/7 nights

Thursday Run

I ran on Thursday evening with my running group. I almost didn’t go because I was falling asleep on the train back from work – I only had about 4 hours sleep the night before. It was a short one (I lumped myself in with the beginners!) And we also did a bit of fartlek training afterwards. The run went better than Mondays, though towards the end I was getting pain in my lower back again. I think stretching for longer beforehand helped! More of that please. The fartlek training did not go as well. We were running halfway across a bridge at 80% of our top speed, and gently jogging back to the start – repeat three times. After the first one I was wheezy, so had to go to my car to grab my inhaler…then I tried my second one, and I felt exhausted and wobbly on my legs. So I cheated a little and didn’t do the third one. I’m glad I didn’t, I felt quite woozy when I stopped. On the other side of that, I feel like I should have pushed myself more to do it…I don’t know. Confusing.

On the run my average pace has improved. Though the more of a course I run the better that will get on its own. The Fartleks saw my pace improve by leaps and bounds, as expected when almost sprinting!

Maintaining is better than gaining! Though during the week I went up and dropped back down again, so…technically I lost weight this week. Just not in comparison to last week!

Food
I’ve been very so-so on my food this week. I need to put more of a concious effort into the choices I make and stop letting my emotions choose the food. #emotionaleater.

Exercise
I went back to running on Monday, it was difficult! Harder than I thought it would be. Now that I’m a bit more recovered from it I am cautiously looking forward to tomorrows run…Kind of.

Sleep
Sleep is always a big problem for me. Back to work means early mornings and late nights. I need to get into the habit of being in bed as soon as possible after getting home from work!

Monday Runday

I went for a run! Yaaay!

It was so hard. It’s been over a month since my last outdoor run, and my god could I feel it. I’ve lost the little fitness I had built up in regards to running. Tonight I had painful lower back pains – it felt like my lower back was in a spasm or a cramp. I’ve never had that before when running – is this a thing? A running thing that happens? I dont know. I had lead legs, shin pain, breathing problems, sore ankles, and the weird back pain. It wasn’t fun…

Final weigh in of 2014: 227 Pounds

2014 weight loss: 5 Pounds

This is the first year ever that I have lost weight overall. I know it doesn’t seem like much, only 5 pounds, but better than putting on! Over Christmas I ate a lot, but it could have been a lot worse. I’m looking forward to getting into a routine and exercising again.

The new year is making me feel very optimistic!

Just to lay it all out, here’s my 2015 goals:

3 Month Goals

March 29th – 209.5 pounds

June 28th – 199 pounds

September 27th – 188.5 pounds

December 20th – 178 pounds

In 2015 I will also be looking to achieve the following:

  1. Get to the top of Ben Nevis
  2. Run a 10k by the end of the year
  3. Be regularly wearing a UK size 16 by the end of the year
