My blog has been alive for a year yesterday.
That’s an achievement to me because I don’t stick to anything very well, usually I give up or get bored, or, become too busy to be able to fit it in!
To celebrate, I was going to sign up to a 5K run at the end of November. Unfortunately, I’m unable to do the run because I have work. But that’s okay, I’m still going to aim for a 5K run by the end of November. I’ve been lightly stepping around my running, and not doing it regularly enough. It’s taken about 4 weeks to do weeks 1 and 2 of the podcast. I should be on week 4!
Time to pull myself outside and Get On With It.
Ok, so I havent run for a week. my fault.
Another solo run today, did the last mandatory week 2 podcast. week 3 sooooon! I listened to what it consists of, it’s quite a big jump. But manageable…I hope!
The run went well, I got a stitch, but ran though it. AND didnt get shin splint until the last little bit of my run. which was a nice change…
I was worried about running during lunchtime, as my route takes me through town. I was expecting it to be busy, and I don’t feel very confident running in front of large groups of people.I was going to edit my route and go a shorter way through the busy part of my run, instead I kept telling myself ‘I dont care what they think, I’m doing this for me’ and other motivational blah blah.
Lucky for me, it wasn’t busy, so all my worrying was for nothing. I was glad I didn’t cut my route short.
New week, new runs. I will keep up with this.
I like running in the mornings. can you tell? 😉
sooo, gave the week 2 podcast a go…and it wasn’t too bad, not bad atall!
week 2 is 90 seconds running, and 2 mins brisk walk in between. (so it says, I’m not convinced it was 2 mins!!)
we used a different technique to what we normally do, we started out on the run going really slow (imagine two old ladies jogging-we were like that) because it was super cold. We also used this technique when we were struggling with the last 30 seconds of the running part. this helped enormously, and I finished the run not feeling sick like I have the past couple of runs. this also helped with keeping breathing in control, as we are both asthmatic this was brilliant – especially as it was cold.

For now, it’s time to go swimming!
Went for run numero 2 this evening.
It went ok…I wasn’t feeling particularly great, I would have been happy to stay in all evening and do nothing, but, obligated to go out with my running buddy, I upped and went out.
I’m glad I did!
It felt good to be outside doing exercise, even though I’m not very good at it. But I’ll get better! so long as my running buddy doesn’t mind being Mr. Motivator when my willpower dies out…
The actual run went well, we must have either walked slower or ran slower, because the podcast finished sooner on our route than last time. I felt better paced though, not quite as dead. however that could be down to my cold getting better-still there, but not quite as aggressive. who knows. It was also colder than last time, warmed up quickly, but the cold air had an effect on my breathing.
I feel good for going out and doing it. Bring on next time. 🙂
